Assessment
Assessment involves the comparison of inspection findings against a clear, well defined set of condition criteria. A priority list of system needs can then be developed. Although experience shows that most sewer sections are in good condition and require little or no action, more serious problems can be found which will require further investigation and eventually some degree of action.
AndrewsInfrastructure has worked with a number of sewer coding and condition ranking systems including those developed by the Water Research Centre (WRC)(England), the National Research Council (Canada) and the Water Environment Federation (US). We have formulated a comprehensive risk evaluation matrix which enables a rigorous technique to assess external factors when assigning condition grades. In addition we have developed an in-house manhole inspection and condition ranking system adaptable to various coding systems.
